Student who opted for Basic Math in class 10 can pursue the subject in Classes 11 & 12: The CBSE Board

In yet another relief for students who appeared for class 10th board examination this year, the CBSE board has allowed the students who opted for Basic Math in class 10 to pursue the subject further in senior secondary classes; 11 & 12.

The CBSE Board for the first time ever gave the option, to choose between Standard & Basic Mathematics to class 10 students, for board exams 2020. Earlier only the students who chose Standard Math in class 10, were allowed to take up the subject in 11 & 12, but this year considering the uncertainty and delay in conducting the compartment exams, the CBSE Board has also provided this opportunity, to the students who took up Basic Math in class 10.

Basic Math students who passed the board exam, and chose to appear for and also clear the Standard Math compartment exam were allowed to pursue Mathematics as a subject in classes 11 & 12.

The move received mixed responses from parents & students. Some students hailed the move while other felt jittery, as they now can be under their parents’ pressure to take up the subject.
