The Supreme Court rejects a Public Interest Litigation seeking the implementation of a common syllabus and curriculum for the children between age groups 6-14 by merging the two national level boards – Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Board (ICSE) board.
The PIL was filed by advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, a leader of the BJP.
Supreme Court bench headed by Justice DU Chandrachud told the petitioner that such decisions cannot be taken by the court. “How can you ask the court to merge two separate boards? These functions do not fall in the domain of the court,” said the court.
