HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announced that IITs and NITs will not be raising their fees for the academic year of 2020-21.
The decision to not raise fees for students studying at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs) includes the MTech programmes as well.
"Even though IITs and NITs are autonomous and financially self-regulatory institutes, we still had requested them to not take up the annual fee hike for this year," Pokhriyal said in his Twitter live.
He hoped this sentiment would be respected by all heads of these prestigious institutes.
