Beginning from 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to regulate the admission process of classes 9 and 11 in all its affiliated schools across the country.
Currently the admissions are being conducted by the schools on the basis of their own rules and regulations. However, from next year, the board has formulated the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to standardize admission in these classes.
CBSE has informed all its affiliated schools to follow the guidelines. In case of any violation, strict actions will be taken against them.
For admission to these two classes, CBSE has defined the following 11 categories:
Board has also initiated further conditions in the process. In case, a student wants admission in any of classes 9 and 11 in another CBSE affiliated school then his/her parents will be required to submit the application along with the academic result of the last five years of both the school, current and previous, as a part of the admission process. Apart from this, qualification and teaching experience of the staff members of both the schools will also have to be submitted to the school authorities.
Though the new process has been severely abhorred by teachers and principals, the board’s decision behind the school admission by SOPs was taken to streamline the entire process so that only genuine candidates can get admission.
