The cancellation of 12th board examinations is being welcomed by the majority of students and their parents. It was a necessary precaution against the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the country. Though, this decision poses another question- a justifiable and uniform assessment criterion for admission to degree courses. CBSE schools have been directed to prepare results for all classes, including the 12th grade, on the basis of internal assessments. Resultantly, the Kerala CBSE School Managements Association has demanded the introduction of a common entrance exam. The education body has put forth fears of injustice happening to truly deserving students as board exams won’t be taking place. An exam that every CBSE 12th standard student throughout the country sits for can be crucial for admission to various degree and professional programmes.
