Under the CBSE Competency Based Education Project, Education Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal has introduced a new CBSE Assessment Framework for Science, Math and English subjects. This will aim at improving the quality of education in CBSE schools by shifting the focus from rote learning to skill development. A framework which will be adopted by 25,000 CBSE schools by 2024 will be developed by British Council and three UK agencies- Cambridge, NARIC, and Alphaplus. British Council has worldwide recognition in supporting education departments and governments in teacher training and shaping better school ecosystems. This initiative is a step forward in implementing the new National Education Policy (NEP) introduced in 2020. The goal of NEP 2020 is to transition the Indian education system from rote learning to competency-based education; a system which prepares the students for new challenges of the changing times.
