In an attempt to make education more engaging for an integrated or holistic growth of the students, the government is deliberating to modify the learning & assessment environment.
As per the Education Minister Mr. Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has already started taking the initiative in this direction by making the learning environment more student-focused, joyful, activity-driven and experiential through mediums like sports, theatre, story-telling, art & craft etc.
The Minister further said that the board examination would steadily assess conceptual understanding & its application in real life which means that the assessment would be more competency based to ensure the achievement of the desired learning outcomes.
The proposed changes are in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which was formulated last year after considering over 2 lakh suggestions of some of the most important stakeholders.
