Every step up the educational ladder is a vital one. That being said, anyone who has ever taught students at the Class 2 level knows that this year can be an especially formative one. After all, the seventh year is a very formative time in a child’s life, a period during which they are especially impressionable. At such a young age, tragedy and triumph alike can loom all the larger for students.
You would naturally prefer that your students meet with more of the former than the latter. You will, therefore, want to make sure that you do everything in your power to help your students along. As with so much of life, it’s the little things that can add up to big differences, as is the case with these five game changers for teachers teaching Class 2 kids.
1. Challenge Your Students
Presenting goals as challenges can be a great way to make working with class 2 worksheets and helpbooks more palatable. Working on the same old programs over and over again can feel quite tedious for students. Giving them advanced Class 2 workbooks, or even materials which are still more advanced can help break up that tedium. It can also be a great way to reward and encourage gifted students, acknowledging and validating their skills in a certain area while giving them fresh challenges to allow them to keep growing.
2. The Personal Touch
As a teacher, you have dozens of students of which to keep track of. This can be exhausting, to say the least. Even so, you need to do everything you can to imbue your interactions with students with a personal touch. It can be difficult to do this for every student at every point over your day. Even so, when students feel they have a personal connection with their teacher, they can often feel motivated to try harder or open up about their challenges.
3. Be Nurturing
This, in turn, lines up with one of the core tenants of grade school teaching – the importance of being nurturing. If you have students who show giftedness in one or more areas, for example, giving them special exercises or activities to go along with their daily Ncert Class 2 workbooks can make these children feel “special” while nurturing their gift.
4. Be Understanding
On the flip side, if you have struggling students, it is vital to be understanding and supportive. Try to sit down with struggling students one-on-one and talk to them on their own terms to figure out the source of their problems.
5. Parental Involvement
When it comes to childhood education, schoolwork is only half the equation. Without the reinforcement and encouragement of parents, teachers can only do so much.
