The CBSE Board has proposed that indigenous language get importance in school curriculum. Three language option will continue till Class 10 against the current practice of letting students choose their second language other than English after Class 8. This move will be implemented from next year onwards.

A teacher says, “According to what we have heard, foreign language will be taught as a ‘fourth language’ or elective. Students have no choice but to learn three Indian languages.” Students can choose from a list of 22 languages.

All the foreign language will be elective & all Indian languages will be promoted. From the next academic year, options will not be provided for foreign languages.
